  COMPLETE SQUARE METHOD

Some examples below shows how to tackle equations whenever we are ask to find an answer using complete square method

Example 1

x² + 6x = x² + 6x + 9 - 9

= x² + 3x +3x + 9 - 9

= x(x + 3) + 3(x + 3) - 9

= (x + 3)(x + 3) - 9

= (x + 3)² - 9

 Example2

x² - 12x =

= x² - 6x + 6x + 36 - 36

= x(x - 6) + 6(6 - x) - 36

= (x - 6)(x - 6) - 36

=(x - 6)² - 36.   check on AP and GP

 at last the general solution for completing square method is given by

 x+ ax = (x + p)² - q
